Our series Songs of Remembrance includes two sisters from Nashville who share stories about their father. It is common to find phrases from minstrel songs of the late 1830s and 1840s in many shanties, like A Long Time Ago, Jamboree, Johnny Come Down to Hilo. And we're doing that through the music they loved.
